Teacher Contactsmrs. Parker's 6th Grade L.a. Class

Last week our 6th – 8th grade Honor Roll recipients were recognized for their hard work and dedication. We are proud of the 117 students (35 in 6th grade, 37 in 7th grade, and 45 in 8th grade) with grades in the top 93 percentile who made honor roll. Congratulations, and keep up the great work! Parker's Second Grade Class. THis is a page to help keep my students' parents up to date on activities in our class.

From The Director

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed! Three wonderful words that allow us to share what’s in our hearts. I am beyond grateful for all the wonderful students, staff, and families that make up the PCK community, and I am immeasurably thankful for the way in which this community works together to support our students and provide for the needs of our program and facility. Finally, I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of all that happens here at PCK every year. As a school community, I cannot help but think that we are truly blessed beyond all measure!

Wishing all PCK staff and families a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday next week. I encourage you to stop for a moment and take stock of all that makes you feel grateful, thankful, and blessed this year.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at PCK!

Dear Sixth Grade Families, I would like to Welcome you and your child to the 2015-2016 school year here at Calibre Academy. My name is Brad Parker and it is my honor to be your child’s Sixth Grade Math and Science Teacher. I am a Fifth year teacher and have worked in many fields along the way.

Warmly,

Teri

Holiday Concerts
Our students have been working hard on their upcoming holiday concerts. See the concert schedule here. They are excited to show you what they’ve learned!

Just A Few Friendly Reminders
PCK music and theater performances are very popular, and with good reason! The students and staff work hard to put on performances the whole family can enjoy, including grandparents and those with mobility issues. With that in mind, we kindly ask the following from our audiences:

      • Please keep all family member attendees, including ALL siblings, with you at all times. Young attendees should not be running around or playing on the sides of the gym or in the halls before, during, or after any PCK performance. This is for the safety and viewing pleasure of all attendees!
      • Please remain quiet during performances. It is very disruptive when the audience is noisy, and unfair to our hardworking performers.
      • We appreciate when cell phones are turned off and put away. Enjoy the performance! Some things are meant to be ‘experienced,’ and not recorded.
      • For concerts during school hours, please refrain from pulling younger/older siblings from class. This is disruptive to the class overall. Longer performances are generally scheduled at night and on weekends when the whole family can attend.
    • Please tell all of your friends and family members driving themselves to a performance that they may not park in the townhouse lot across from the school. If they park in that private lot, or if they park anywhere other than a designated parking spot, they may be towed. They may park in the small lot on Centerpark Loop if the PCK lot is full. Also, do not park within five feet of any driveway or intersection. We highly recommend carpooling.

Thank you for helping us model the same appropriate audience behavior we teach here at PCK!

The Winter Market Is Coming

The PTA is holding a Winter Market the first week in December for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. This is a gift store set up in our school library and run by parent volunteers so students can do their own holiday gift shopping for family and friends during their library time.

Watch your Thursday folder for a budget envelope and a letter telling you more about the gift store program. This is a great opportunity to talk with your children about budgeting and the joy of giving!

Students Had Hands-On Fun At Our Tech Expo

Last week we held our first PCK Tech Expo. Companies brought in their products to let our students have hands-on experience with robotics, virtual reality, circuits, coding, and much more. The students had a blast and learned a lot about different forms of technology.

Thank you to the parent volunteers who made this event possible: presenters Matthew Bryant and Daniel Sharpe; volunteers Jason Cole, Tommy Han, Ed Mendez, Geeta Pandra, Erik Preston, and Seema Yelluru.

Thanks also to our technology teachers, Sasha Henderson and Heather White, as well as our IT genius, Jeremiah Elfers, for coordinating this event for our students. We know it took a lot of hard work, and we appreciate all of your effort.

A Note To Our Book Fair Volunteers

Dear Book Fair Volunteers,

My enthusiastic thanks to every one of you for the many hours it took to make our book fair a success! As with everything we do at PCK for our students, you are the key. Thank you for everything.

From The Foundation At PCK

The Annual Giving Campaign is in full swing and we really appreciate all of your generous donations. Please check your mailboxes for information about this year’s campaign and pledge cards. This is the second of three fundraisers The Foundation does each school year. Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $50,000. For each $75 donation you give, your name will be entered into a drawing for a parking spot for a month! We hope you had a chance to check out our posters at parent/teacher conferences showcasing some of the amazing educational tools these fundraisers provide for our PCK kids.

Donations can be sent in with your pledge cards or done online here: https://thefoundationatpck.revtrak.net. Also, check to see if your employer matches donations here. Thanks again for your support!

Be About Bliss Food Drive

Our middle school National Junior Honor Society is once again collecting food for Be About Bliss, a nonprofit organization that provides food to families in need through their children’s schools. This year their goal is to provide a winter break food kit for every student at four Colorado schools, including Boston P-8, which we fully supported last year. Many children who receive free lunches at school do not have access to meals during school breaks, so these food kits are very important.

Each grade level is assigned a different food item so PCK can offer complete food kits to these families. Please see this flier for the items we need.

Thanks for helping make sure kids around Colorado have plenty to eat during the holidays.

Way To Go, Champs!

Congratulations to Nick Moore, Nick Teerlinck, Brett Duffendack, and the Parker Hawks 6th/7th Grade AFC South team for their recent Super Bowl win! They beat Cherry Creek 12-0 which wrapped up their perfect, undefeated season with a record of 10-0. Congrats, Super Bowl champs!

Robotics For The Win

Two PCK students, Vrinda Gunda (4th grade) and Anshu Metpally (5th grade) are on a new robotics team that won the 2019 First Lego League regional competition.

They competed against 47 other teams in the Southern Colorado qualifier in Colorado Springs last Saturday. They won the championship award and will compete for the state championship title on December 7.

The teams are judged on robot design, programming, and presentation; robot execution and mission strategy; core values presentation; and innovative project presentation.

Congratulations, girls! We are PCKProud of you!

As an eMINTS class, the students brainstormed characteristics of proper computer usage to create computer norms. Then the teachers in the Communication Arts department collaborated with students’ ideas to come up with a list of norms that would be similar in Reading and E.L.A. classrooms.
